Menomonie Boys Hockey Defeats Viroque

Menomonie endured a two-and-a-half-hour bus ride to Viroque on Saturday, December 13th, to face the Hawks. Menomonie went crazy, scoring 7 goals. Liam Wachewicz earned 3 points this weekend with two assists and a goal.

 

6 and a half minutes into the first period, Cooper Marincel scored the first goal of the game, and it was unassisted. Davin Ellis only got shot at once, meaning he earned 1 save in the first period. Overall, Menomonie had 17 shots in the first period. 

 

The second period was a high-scoring period. Menomonie scored 5 goals. Kaden Farrah scored about 2 minutes into the 2nd period; his goal was assisted by Liam Wachewicz. Jaxson Giertz was on fire, scoring 2 goals within 5 minutes, both assisted by Brekkin Cody.  Liam Wachewicz scored with 2:26 left in the period. This goal was unassisted. The final goal of the period was scored by Cooper Marincel with less than 2 seconds left. This goal was assisted by Wes Weir. Davin Ellis had 6 saves, and Menomonie had 13 shots.

 

In the 3rd period, Kellen Turner scored the final goal of the game, assisted by Kaden Farrah and Liam Wachewicz. Davin had 2 saves in the 3rd, and Menonoine put on 11 more shots. Overall, Menomonie won 7-0, putting up 41 shots, and Davin Ellis earned a shutout to add to his career. 

 

Menomonies’ next adventure will be on December 15th in Altoona to face RAM. The next day, they will travel to Amery, Wisconsin, to play the Warriors at 7:00 PM. Then on Thursday, December 18th, they will travel to Eau Claire to play north at Hobbs Ice Arena at 7:00 pm. Over winter break, Menomonie will have a home game vs Black River Falls on the 22nd at 7:00 pm and a winter tournament in Siren on the 26th and 27th.
