The Menomonie Mustangs’ boys soccer hosted their Senior Night on October 16, 2025, against the Osceola Chieftains.
Prior to the match, the community honored the senior class of 2026 with flowers from Hive and Hollow and gifts in envelopes.
The senior class of 2026 included Matvey Zazovskiy (3), Levi Freeman (6), Carlos Flores (7), Tanner Husby (8), Ryan Xu (9), Ali Elmagrous (11), Jack Risler (12), Aidan Wolbert (14), Miles Ogden (16), Dylan Vang (17), Keebtxuj Xiong (18), Gabriel Sarraff Lopes (20), Otis Yonko (22), Robbe Duchateau (24), and Alvin Vue (25).
Senior Captain Ryan Xu opened the score sheet for the Mustangs, scoring late in the 27th minute, assisted by Brazilian foreign exchange student Gabriel Sarraff Lopes.
A deep ball in from Elliot Risler gave the Mustangs another scoring opportunity, where Matvey Zazovskiy put the ball into the back of the net in the 37th minute, assisted by Levi Freeman.
Gabriel Sarraff Lopes found himself on the assist sheet yet again, passing the ball to Henry Ruegnitz, who scored in the final seconds of the second half.
A corner taken from Ali Elmagrous found the head of Gabriel Sarraff Lopes in the 42nd minute, making the score 4 to 0.
Late in the 56th minute, Ryan Xu flicked the ball over a defenders head and crossed the ball to the center, where Otis Yonko scored his first career goal for the Mustangs, bringing the lead to 5-0.
On his birthday and in the 67th minute, Carlos Flores scored from another corner, assisted by Ali Elmagrous and Levi Freeman.
Although the game focused on seniors, sophomore Joshua Devries shut out the match, tallying the final score to 6-0.
“It’s honestly a surreal feeling,” said senior Levi Freeman. “Most of us have spent the last 10 years playing together. It’s so rewarding to get a result like what we used to on senior night.”
Helping the team off the field was the Mustangs’ student section. The section came together and brought spirit to the Mustangs.
“The energy in the student section was lively and intense,” said Joshua Spice. “That was the best soccer student section I have ever been in. DJ Butler was hilarious.”
