The Mustangs wrapped up their 2025 season on October 24th at the Onalaska High School after falling short to the Hilltoppers.
Menomonie showed lots of grit throughout the year once again playing under Coach Mike Sinz. They finished 4-6 overall (counting playoffs). The Mustangs faced many tough opponents throughout the BRC like Rice Lake, Hudson, River Falls, and New Richmond who are all very strong complete football teams.
Menomonie started the year strong taking down the Eau Claire North Huskies 54-32. Senior QB Taylor Mars started hot and led the Mustangs Offense to a high scoring outing. Mars led the Mustangs to another win at the Marshfield High School in week 2 where they took down the Tigers 30-16. “It felt so good to come out swinging and put the boys 2-0,” Mars said.
Conference play started in week 3 when the Hudson Raiders came to Don and Nona Williams stadium for an electric matchup. The game started slow with smashmouth football on both sides. The 2nd half was more fast paced on the Hudson side of the ball. The Mustangs ended up falling short to the Raiders 8-26.
Injuries to key players were the trend for Menomonie this season, The Mustangs went to face the Rice Lake Warriors in Rice Lake where they rallied up a major lead going into half time but couldn’t keep it rolling in the 2nd half and they ended up losing 24-41 to the Warriors.
Menomonie got back into the win column after the long trip to Superior where the Mustangs overpowered the Spartans 42-6, The week after was another strong win where Menomonie beat the Old Abes of Eau Claire Memorial 42-7.
Then the remaining 4 weeks took out more crucial players Senior OL Sam Wayne, Senior LB and HB Landon Middlestadt, and WR/CB Charlie Mikesell.
The injuries the Mustangs faced was a true force of the tough final 4 games they played. These teams were all Division 1 or 2 schools.
Menomonie had a lot of their key seniors out this season due to injuries which all seemed to come in big matchups, Their quarterback going out week three vs Hudson, Senior linebacker suffering an injury after week 4’s matchup vs Rice Lake, A senior OL going out week 4 as well, Senior wide receiver going out the last week of regular season and senior running back didn’t get the opportunity to play this season. All of these key injuries impacted the whole season losing skill, morale, and grit. The players that took over still played hard, got wins and played to the whistle in the tough games. “Tough to see buddies go down, but me and the healthy ones fought for our brothers” Said Senior RB and DB Renner Stoll
The Mustangs fought hard through thin and thick this year and showed how strong Menomonie Football was this year and how it has been.
The Mustangs will start their next season strong in August 2026.
Thank you seniors for all your hard work and dedication to the Menomonie Football Program.
