FNAF 2 Directed by Emma Tammi, Mystery, Thriller, Horror, PG-13 1h 44m
The FNAF franchise has returned for its second film, with it being darker, creepier, and scarier. There are more jump scares, and it dives deeper into the characters; the audience is even introduced to some new characters. The first movie was released on October 27, 2023. Two years later, the second one was released on December 5, 2025. The movie expands more on the franchise games that started the movies to begin with.
This movie is a must-see movie, especially for hardcore FNAF fans who have been invested since the release of the first game. This movie will startle the audience with many jump scares, but also with the great use of storytelling and emotion from the actors. Another reason to see the movie is that it has some hidden Easter eggs that are linked to the video games.
At the start of the film, it’s set in 1982 at the first location of the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzaria. There is a kids’ birthday party going on, and the camera focuses on this little girl sitting in front of the stage waiting for someone to come up out of the trap door. Another girl comes up to her and asks why she just sits there, because the person who comes up through the trap door won’t do that until the next performance. She says to her that she should come and join the party. The other girl agrees and decides to join the group. While the little girl is sitting at the table, she is not having a fun time. When she looks over at the stage, she notices a little boy going near a set of doors. The doors open with a yellow rabbit who seems to be talking to the kid, but then the rabbit grabs him and brings him to the back.
The little girl sees this and tries to get her parents’ attention, but the parents blow her off, not even listening to her. So she decides to head to the back. Before she opens the doors, the other girl tells her not to go, but she doesn’t listen. When she looks through one of the doors, she sees the little boy lying on the ground. She heads in quietly to try not get caught. She begins to move the boy, looking up a couple of times to make sure the rabbit isn’t around. When she looks up again, she sees him right in front of her, so she picks up the boy and tries to carry him. The rabbit catches up to her, so she tries to take another way out to the main area. Sheventually walks through a curtain onto the stage, where no one notices her standing. She lets out a big scream in an attempt to get their attention and collapses onto her knees. At the same time, the boy wakes up and runs to his parents. The trap door opensunderneath the little girl, and she falls through it. A couple of seconds later, a giant puppet comes up from the trap door, holding the little girl in its arms.
The FNAF 2 movie picks up a year after the events of the first FNAF movie. Mike and Abby move into a new house, and they start a new job and a new school. Vannessa has nightmares about her father, who died in the previous film. She doesn’t want to be like him, but her nightmares are telling her a different story. Mike calls Vannessa and asks her if they are still having dinner that night, which wakes her from her night terrors. While they are having dinner, Mike asks her about her nightmares she’s been having, and she tells him they are all the same. Vannessa asks how Abby is doing; Mike tells her that Abby asks when her friends are going to be fixed, but Mike doesn’t know how to tell her that they cannot be fixed. Vannessa tells him that he should just tell Abby the truth because Mike is just giving her false hope.
When Mike gets home from dinner, he goes to find Abby, but when he returns to the hallway, he sees a note on the front door that says “Going to fix my friends. He heads to the FNAF location where everything happened the year before and finds Abby sitting in the middle of the floor inside the messy building. Abby asks where her friends are, and this is when Mike tells her the truth about what happened and that he can’t fix her friends. Abby understands this; to cheer her up, Mike takes her over to the prize counter and asks her what she would like to have. She notices a little green box on the floor, and when she picks it up. It’s a FNAF speaker that contains all 4 animatronics’ voices in it, so she can listen to it as if they are still with her. After this, they leave; Mike sees a flyer on the building about murder. He grabs it and brings it home with them.
In the next scene of the movie, this is when four new characters come into play. Teenage ghost investigators come to the original FNAF location: Lisa, the leader of the group, Alex, the cameraman, and Rob, the second investigator. Before they enter the pizza place, they run into a security guard named Michael, who also gives them permission to enter. He takes them around the building and tells them information about it. When Lisa has her headphones in, she hears some sort of noise that no one else does, so she stays by the main stage. Rob heads to the river, and Alex stays with Michael so he can get video footage. Lisa continues to hear the noise, so she ventures downstairs. She goes into a room that has a giant present, and next to it is a music box. When she gets closer to the present, she hears the music box playing. All of a sudden, the present opens, and the marionette comes out and grabs Lisa, making her scream. Meanwhile, Rob falls into the river, and he notices something and realizes they are mini marionettes; they drag Rob underneath the water. When Lisa screams, Alex hears her and runs after her. He sees her on the floor, acting possessed. She gets up, the Marionette taking over her body and attacking Alex. While this is happening, Michael comes down, sees everything, and runs out of the restaurant, leaving all the kids there.
The following day, Vannessa is at her cycling class; she looks in the mirrors and notices a figure that looks like her dad. When she looks again, he is gone. She continues to cycle, increasing the speed. She begins to get lightheaded, and when she looks up again, she sees her father right in front of her. She tries to ignore it by closing her eyes and pedaling to the point where the wheel is making a very loud noise. She panics until she opens her eyes and realizes her dad is gone. She decides to leave, and when she grabs her bag, she feels a hand on her shoulder. Startled, she turns around and grabs her gun, pointing it at one of the people in her class. Turns out, he just came to see if she was okay, so she headed out of the building.
The next day, when Abby is home from school, she is lying down thinking about the robotics fair that is coming up at her school. This is when the FNAF speaker starts talking to Abby. One of them says, “Abby, help us. She sneaks out of the house while Mike is sleeping and rides her bike, letting the animatronic voices guide her. They led her to the Pizza place where the teenagers were earlier in the movie. When she enters the building, she calls out to her friends, eventually running into Chica. They both hug, and Abby tells Chica she missed her and everyone else. She explains to Chica about her robotics class and how she is struggling. Chica offers to help her, leading her to the back of the restaurant.
The next day, Vanessa shows up at Mike’s house wanting to talk to him. She heads inside and calls out to Mike. No reply. She calls out to Abby and walks into her room. She’s looking around and notices a toy Chica robot. Then Abby walks into her room and says hi to Vanessa. He tells Abby that she’s looking for Mike, then says to Abby, “Did you make that yourself?” Abby says she had some help from her friends last night. Vannessa’s confused by this and asks, “What do you mean your friends helped you?” Abby then explained, “They called out to me from my speaker. They needed my help,” so she went to the Pizza Place and stayed there all night. Mike walks into the room and says hi to Vanessa, and asks him if they can talk outside. When they’re outside, she tells Mike what Abby told her in her room, and she is worried about her. Mike tells Vanessa that Abby has a speaker, and she was probably just talking to that. She tries to tell Mike that’s not what happened. Mike doesn’t listen and tells Vanessa that maybe she should not pin her memories and problems on Abby.
The following day, Vanessa heads to the original pizza place where Abby went the previous night to try and find the animatronics. While she is walking through the restaurant, she has her flashlight and gun on her, ready to attack the FNAF crew. She heads down to the basement, where the marionette is, and this is when Charlotte begins to talk with Vanessa. Vanessa tells Charlotte that she feels really sorry for what happened to her, but what she is trying to do is not right. Bringing Abby into her plan is not okay. Charlotte tells Vanessa that she doesn’t hate her for what happened, but she doesn’t want Vanessa getting in her way. Vannessa tells her she can’t let her go through with this plan, and she won’t let Charlotte hurt Abby. This is when the Marionette comes out with it being a part of Lisa’s body, and she goes after Vanessa.
Later in the day, Mike and Abby show up for the Robotics fair at the school. Mike tells Abby to head inside and start setting up. She asks Mike if he’s not coming to the event. He assures her that he will be there; he just has to do a few things first. Abby heads inside with her Chica robot, and her teacher notices and asks her, “I thought you weren’t going to enter the robotics fair, but instead support us”. She says that she’s ready for the fair with her project complete. Her teacher sees it and says he will put it in her spot, but when he turns around, he drops it on the floor, making it shatter. He tells her that it just slipped. Abby runs out of the school, upset about what happened; she gets on her bike and heads to the pizza place. Once she’s there, she runs in and hugs Chica while in tears. Chica asks Abby what’s wrong and why she isn’t at the fair. Abby tells her what happened, and she doesn’t have anything for show and tell. Chica cheers Abby up by saying that she could be her show-and-tell project, but Abby has to help out the animatronics first, like they asked the first time.
Chica leads Abby to the back room where they have the security system; she asks if Abby can put in a code for the computer. Meanwhile, in another room, the Marionette has Vanessa all tied up in the air and demands that Vanessa tell her the code for the security system. Vanessa resists at first, but the Marionette threatens Abby’s safety if she doesn’t give the code. Vanessa gives in and tells the code. Chica tells Abby the numbers to put into the computer. The code brings down the barrier of the restaurant and allows the animatronics to leave. Chica reminds Abby that they need to get to the robotics fair. In the meantime, Mike goes to speak with Charlotte’s father at his house because of the flyer he saw earlier in the movie, the one that had murder written across it. Mike called him, wondering about Charlotte and what exactly happened with her. This is when her dad tells Mike that back in the day, this type of fair turned into a big event to celebrate the animatronics. Mike is confused by this, so her dad shows him that in the old pizza place, there is a river. This was the same river that used to be Charlotte’s favorite spot when she was alive. This leads to Mike calling Abby’s school to make sure she is at the science fair. He is told she isn’t, so he starts to panic. Charlotte’s dad says Abby is at the pizzeria and is in danger. Before Mike leaves, her dad gives him one last piece of advice: music was the only thing that ever calmed Charlotte down, so if Mike faces her, it will be better if he has the box.
Mike rushes into the pizzeria, noticing Abby’s bike on the ground. He begins calling out for Abby; he entersthe restaurant through a side window while looking around with a flashlight. He notices really beat-up versions of the animatronics when he leaves the room in the back. Lisa is there, but the marionette isn’t controlling her anymore, so she lies there, unmoving. Meanwhile, Abby is back at the robotics fair with her new project to show, but her teacher thinks it’s just someone in a costume, so he gets annoyed and walks off. This leads to Chica telling Abby that she will go talk to him. Abby wants to know what she will say to him, and she just says I want to know what’s really inside his head. The teacher is strolling down the flickering light hallway. He stops in front of a door, thinking he sees something. Then he looks closely, he notices Chica inside the dark room. Before he can leave, she grabs him and pulls him into the room with her. He tries to crawl away, but Chica ends up snapping the teacher’s neck, making him fall to the ground.
Back in the restaurant, Mike finds Vanessa locked in a cabinet and exhausted. This is when she finally tells him the truth and how Charlotte is behind everything. The animatronics that Mike saw earlier weren’t the originals; they were prototype parts used for replacements. Vanessa begs him to let her help him find Abby. She explains that the spirit haunting the place is the Marionette and that after Charlotte died, Vanessa kept seeing her there. She was stuck in the last emotion she felt, which was rage. The music box kept Charlotte asleep until something woke her up. And when they head to the security room, Vanessa explains that Marionette/Charlotte, if any part of her is still left, needs to connect with someone to amplify her powers and control all the animotronics. Vanessa apologizes to Mike for not telling him the truth at the start. She has Mike stay there so he can track the animatronics while she goes out to find Abby.
While Abby is at the fair, being presented with the first-place award, Chica gets an alert triggered by Mike that he is trying to shut down the system. So, for her to stop the connection with Mike, she has to force the connection to the other animatronics we saw when Mike was looking for Abby. While this is happening, Mike tracks down Freddy, which the computer says he is at Faz fest. During this, the movie cuts to a little girl in her room. When she looks out the window, she sees one of the animatronics. And while Vanessa tries to talk to Mike, Mangle, one of the animatronics, is on the roof of her car, attacking Vanessa. Vanessa swerves constantly, attempting to crash it. Freddy is now at a couple’s house, and Bonnie at the little girl’s house. The animatronics are focused on parents because Charlotte blames adults for her death at the beginning of the film. Meanwhile, back at the pizzeria, Mike has to focus on the other versions of the animatronics, trying not to get attacked, so he sees a Freddy mask in the chair next to him. He puts it on, and withered Freddy scans the mask and thinks Mike is an animatronic. But when Foxy comes around, Mike tries the same thing, but the mask doesn’t work for Foxy, leaving him surrounded by all the animatronics.
Bonnie is trying to attack the little girl’s mom, but to save them, Mike makes a big play and shuts down the wireless system that is connecting the animatronics, and it works just in the nick of time. Mike calls Vanessa to say that they have been deactivated, but the map shows one still active, pointing to Mike’s house, and this is when both of them realise that the Marionette must be controlling Chica. Back at the house, Chica brings Abby to her room. The Marionette then climbs out of Chica, making Abby scream. Because of this, all the animatronics reactivate again. This gives Mike an idea that they should try to talk to the original animatronics face-to-face. He heads back to the Freddy Fazbar Pizza Place from the first film and tries to talk with the original animatronics to get their help because he can’t protect Abby on his own. Vanessa’s car has stopped working after Mangle attacked it earlier. One of her and Mike’s friends, Jeremiah, pulls over and gives Vanessa a ride. When they arrive at Mike’s house, Vanessa discovers that Abby has been possessed by Marionette, but she still believes Charlotte is the one controlling her. She begs Charlotte to let Abby go. Just in time, Mike arrives with a music box and manages to weaken Charlotte.
Once Abby gets back to normal, all of the animatronics surround her, along with Michael, the security guard from the beginning of the film. Vannessa says Michael’s name, confusing Mike. Vanessa says he is her brother, leaving Mike shocked. Michael tells them that since their father is dead, he is going to continue his legacy. He tells Vanessa that no matter how much she tries to live a quiet life, she can’t escape where she comes from; she is her father’s daughter. She doesn’t agree with this, saying that Mike and Abby are her family now. Michael tells her one way or another, they will always belong to their father. He asks her to come with him, but Vanessa stands her ground and tells him that she is home, referring to Mike and Abby. This leads to Michael ordering his animatronics to destroy them. All of a sudden, the original four animatronics appear to defeat the newer ones bit by bit. Michael tries to run, but Jeremiah catches him and knocks him out. The original animatronics start to malfunction. Vanessa explains that their systems are corrupted after spending years in the restaurant, so they are breaking down because they were never meant to leave the place.
After the animatronics shut down, Jeremiah says he will give them a ride so they don’t have to stay in the house. While they are leaving, Mike turns around to Vanessa and tells her to stay away from them. This leaves Vanessa hurt; she tries to apoligize but Mike isn’t hearing it. He leaves her there on the porch. The marionette walks up behind her, then takes over Vanessa, her eyes beginning to glow.
