Are you interested in earning dual credits and getting a jumpstart on your career early? If so, Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is the place for you.
CVTC offers select courses you can start while still in high school, such as the Business Academy and the Pre-Nursing Academy. The business academy is a 4 year, 60 credit program that will give you your associates degree in business when you graduate your senior year of high school. You’ll learn how to make effective business decisions, plan, organize, and evaluate functions of business. Your first year of the program you’ll take 2 classes: Innovative Business Mindset and Marketing Principles. Year 2 you’ll take leadership for Business Excellence,principles of management, and business ethics. Year 3 you have the option to choose certain classes you can take such as, Intro to Accounting Business Analytics or Excel and Microsoft Office. You’ll take Project Management Economics, then choose an AP class to take. Your 4th year class options are Business Finance, Managing Operations, Global Business and Career Planning, Business Management Internship, or another AP class.
The Pre-Nursing Academy is a 1 year, 13 credit course that offers students a head start on their healthcare career. All 4 classes are split up into 2 semesters. First semester you will take Anatomy and Physiology, then do clinicals at the neighbours in order to get your Certified Nursing Assistant License. (CNA) You must be 16 when clinicals start. Clinicals are another word for training and learning and providing direct care to patients in a nursing home or hospital setting. Second semester you will take Advanced Anatomy and Physiology and Developmental Psychology. It is important to know you must take a high school chemistry class or CVTC chemistry class, or you can get into the Academy.
