Following the 1-2 loss against the Altoona Railroaders, the Mustangs Soccer team bounced back to claim victory against the Eau Claire North Huskies on youth night, September 16th.
In the 24th minute, Ryan Xu scored the lone goal, with an assist from Mohamed Alnaeli. Carlos Flores chipped the ball into the midfield from the wing, where Mo tipped it on to Ryan, who cut into the box, striking the ball across the goal with his left foot.
“I think the team showed true character in the matchup against North,” said Levi Freeman. “Especially coming off of a tough loss, I’m really excited to show what we can do against teams like New Richmond and Chippewa.”
The final score of the game was 1-0. The lone goal led the Mustangs to their first conference win of the regular season, bringing their conference record to 1-2, with a season record of 3-7-2.
The night included plenty of games and activities for the Menomonie youth to take part in. Activities included sign-making, soccer darts, and free t-shirts.
The night wasn’t only focused on the future of Menomonie soccer, but also in honor of previous coaches of the Mustangs. The Mustangs honored previous coaches with a heartfelt message before the game.
