Homecoming weekend in Menomonie kicked off with a big Mustang win over the Old Abes 42-7 on September 26th.
Menomonie came out swinging on offense; Junior DJ Butler capitalized on 2 Mustang drives with touchdowns. The Old Abes kept a zero on the board after Jake Anderson made a momentum changing interception.
“I saw the tackle arc out so I stepped down and saw the running back sitting by the linemen and I thought oh crap it’s a screen so I jumped the ball and that was the greatest moment of my life,” said Jake Anderson.
The 2nd quarter was also led by the Menomonie offense. Their first drive came up short, but the defense made a big stop. After the stop senior Luke Pember capped off the drive with a short rushing touchdown. The Menomonie defense was stout again and made another 3 and out. This drive led to another Luke Pember rushing touchdown, and the Mustangs led 28-0 going into halftime.
Homecoming half time was one to remember as the fans met the 2025 Homecoming Court, The 2025 Menomonie Hall of Fame Class, and viewed the classic cheer performance.
In the 3rd quarter Menomonie’s DJ Butler earned his third rushing touchdown of the game. Eau Claire Memorial’s Jackson Zuleger snagged a touchdown grab to give Memorial their first score of the game making the score 35-7. The Mustangs answered back; Renner Stoll scored his first touchdown of the game near the end of the third quarter to make the score 42-7.
The 4th quarter was neutral with no scoring between either team. Senior Oliver Schenck made an interception; his first one in a varsity competition.
