On Friday, September 26, the Menomonie Mustangs won the homecoming football game against Memorial High School. The ending score of the game was 42 – 7.
Menomonie Varsity football continues the winning streak against Eau Claire Memorial. Menomonie has won the last 26 games played against Eau Claire Memorial. Aaron Howard, Menomonies quarterback, had 4 completions in 5 attempts for 61 yards. DJ Butler had a night with 21 rushing attempts for 140 yards. Jake Anderson had his first-ever interception against Memorial quarterback Aaron Gundlach on their second offensive drive.
At the Homecoming football game, the student section cheered on the team alongside the crowd. “My favorite part about coming to these games and sitting in the student section is seeing my friends, cheering on the team, and the overall energy,” said Cassiah Casey.
The varsity cheer team was also at the game and performed their own routine on the football field. “My favorite part of being on the cheer team is being able to cheer and perform and watch our football players underneath the Friday night lights.” Said Cecilia Long. The cheerleaders also took part in the Homecoming parade and handed out candy. The cheer team made sure to spread extra spirit throughout the day at school, during the parade, and on the field.
The team will be cheering at the football game vs. New Richmond on Friday, October 3rd, at Don and Nona Stadium at 7:00 pm.
