The Menomonie Varsity Football team lost their eighth game of the season 42-14 when they took on the River Falls Wildcats on Friday, October 10th.
Menomonie and River Falls both scored 14 points during the 1st half of the game, leaving them tied going into halftime. During the second half, the Mustangs did not complete any touchdowns while the Wildcats scored 28 unanswered points. As a result, Menomonie is now 4-4 in the BRC heading into their last conference game of the season.
Menomonie kept a good pace in the 1st half of the game. At halftime, one of Menomonie’s players suffered an injury, followed by another player taken out during the third quarter.
No matter the score of the game, one of the hardest parts is the mental effect on players. They make sure to keep up good spirits from the start to the end of the game.
“No matter what the score says, I make sure to keep myself motivated, and once I don’t that I also help the team stay motivated as well throughout the game.”
said Bryce Shepperd, captain of the Menomonie football team.
Menomonie will host their final conference game of the season this Friday, October 17th, against Chippewa Falls. Currently, Chippewa’s record is 3-5 with losses to Hudson, Rice Lake, River Falls, New Richmond, and Stevens Point; they have wins against Eau Claire Memorial, Superior, and D.C. Everest.
