Menomonie Football hosted and lost to Chippewa Falls 36-6 at the final game of the Big Rivers Conference on Friday, October 17th.
Similar to their previous games, Menomonie kept it very close throughout the first and second quarter up until half time. MHS only scored one touchdown in the first half, leaving their total points at six going into half time. Unfortunately, this would stay their score for the remainder of the match.
Three total players went down in the entirety of the game, all being players from Menomonie’s team. This added to the list of injuries that seems to be abnormally long for MHS this season.
Near the start of half time, the cheerleaders performed another, shorter routine compared to their homecoming one. It lasted roughly forty-five seconds, while the homecoming routine had a run time of about one minute and twenty seconds. The crowd cheered loudly for them as they hit their final pose and exited the field.

Chippewa Falls pulled ahead in the second half of the game, scoring the majority of their touchdowns and points. Menomonie never gave up, despite the growing number on the other team’s side of the score board. They kept their spirits high and were determined to fight no matter the outcome of the game.
Menomonie celebrated their seniors on Friday as well, announcing them before the game and recognizing their hard work and dedication. Both the football and cheerleader seniors were recognized. In total, there were 26 senior football players and 10 senior cheerleaders.
So far, Menomonie has had a decent football season. Their current score stands at 4-5, with four wins and five losses. Despite having lost more than they have won, the team refuses to give up and continues to work hard.
“They’ve [The football team] worked really hard and played with a lot of heart, even with quite a few setbacks along the way.” Said Jenifer Rash, a captain and senior on the MHS cheer team. “It’s been fun cheering them on every Friday night, and now that playoffs are coming up, it’s exciting to see all their hard work paying off. The energy they bring makes our job even better — we all feed off each other’s excitement, which is part of what makes this team so special.”
Menomonie will travel to Onalaska on Friday, October 24th to play in the first round of playoffs. Whether they win this week or not will determine the rest of their season.
