On September 13th, 2025, the MHS boys and girls varsity cross country team won the Menomonie Invitational. Lauran McCella took first place in the girls’ 5000 meters, and Noah Winder took 8th in the boys’ 5000 meters.
Lauran McCella, a senior, PR’d with a time of 17:44 in the girls’ 5000 meters. Her average miles and kilometers run were 5:41 and 3:33
Menomonie is the only school with 3 athletes in the top ten for girls and boys. Menomonie’s three runners in the top 10 for girls consist of Lauran McCella, who got first running a 17:44.4 (PR), Benneitt Schmitt, placing 4th running an 18.55.4, and Bree Barfknecht, placing 5th running a 19.25.1. For boys, Noah Winder placed 8th, running a 16.53.4, Logan Topper placed 9th with a 16.56.5, Owen Pelzel places 10th by running a 17.00.1 (his best score this season)
“We’re a pretty darn good team this year. In fact, we’re the best team in the history of MHS relays,” said Coach Olson.
The Menomonie Cross country team will travel to the University of Minnesota on September 20th, 2025, to race in the Roy Griek Invite.
