Menomonie, WI is close to 100 years of its annual homecoming parade on Friday, September 26th. The Homecoming parade is a tradition that takes place after the High School coronation ceremony and before the football game.
The parade route is as follows: It starts on 14th Avenue near Dick’s Fresh Market, then turns onto 9th St. E, turns left onto Wilson Avenue in front of Wilson Park, then another left onto 7th St. E, where it will eventually meet back with 14th Avenue. This is the route that the parade has followed for the entirety of its existence.
There were 57 organizations/floats part of this year’s parade, with some being Applebee’s, High School band, Menomonie Cheer team, Red Cedar Dentistry, to name a few.
The parade couldn’t have been made without the help of the Menomonie High School student council.
“This year, as Executive Secretary for Student Council, I ran the parade committee. Other members and I worked hard to contact businesses and organizations for the parade… For Months before the parade committee sent hundreds of emails and worked very hard to coordinate the event.”

Being able to do the Homecoming parade is such a joy for the people of Menomonie to watch or be a part of each year. Being able to put smiles on the children’s faces when they get a whole bunch of candy from different floats is a great thing to see.
“Homecoming is fun for all! For myself as a past alumni and the serving Mayor of Menomonie, riding in the Fire Truck with my wife Rita is a huge thrill and honor for me. Menomonie is such a great place to live, work, learn, and play!”

Next year, the year after that, and many other years, we will continue marching for the people of Menomonie. The classic tradition of the town that keeps on living.
